Major gratitude to my friend Angela Quach, who was a breath of fresh air into both my life and the Gumpcast last week. Angie is the CEO of The Destiny Lab and flew over from San Diego for a catch up. We recorded this episode with her story paired with live music.

🔱 Captain’s Logbook of Gumption
Last month was crazy with the end of a data consulting project, and completing the health essays that I committed myself to writing last month.
It has been exhausting!
Ironically as I wrote essays about not sacrificing health for work, I found myself doing exactly that and my health has taken a hit!
❓ What challenges have I faced last month?
falling into the old habits of working at night, forgetting to eat, and smoking. I realize that I am coping with stress and I am allowing myself to be that way for this period to accomplish what I know needs to be accomplished. Cutting myself some slack as I get through this period.
My right knee got inflamed and started hurting when running so I stopped a training program that I was on. This further made way for bad habits.
Been receiving sobering feedback on my novel draft which is what I needed but is difficult to receive. I am keeping a distance from it this summer however and focusing on my work and the gumpcast.
❓ What kept me going last month and gave me gumption?
Friends and co-creation have been the hallmark of my survival last July. Getting in a creative zone with others is the most life giving activity for me this summer.
❓ What are my wins from last month?
I have organized by whole content calendar and have a predictable schedule and structure now.
We have crossed the 300 subscriber threshold! I am excited about the newcomers. 300 subscribers may be small for substack but 72/300 have just joined us in July! Last month we grew by 28%!
❓ What experiments have I been doing?
I have been writing more in my domain of expertise, health.
I have been posting snippets to LinkedIn where a lot of the new people who joined me found me
25 of July Subscribers have found me by promoting my story and health content on Linkedin.
Guerrilla Uber marketing: I have been driving Uber and promoting this newsletter to the people whom I have an interesting conversation with. Thank you beautiful strangers and thanks for being here.
34 of July subscribers met me on the streets of San Francisco as their Uber driver.
❓ What am I looking forward to next?
rest and to get back in a healthy routine this month
the second live episode of the Gumpcast
