Gumption in June
Book coming out, The power of Somatics in healing Trauma, and an essay about health and creativity.
Dear Gumptioneer,
I am always excited to write you my Sunday column here.
Writing these letters to you is a gift.
Having you witness my small steps towards publishing this novel is healing.
So thanks for being here.
I got some real good shit for you this month.
📢 Book 1 of my series is ready for Beta Readers!📢
My most important announcement is that I am releasing the novel into the hands of a small audience for the first time since 2021.
This is the novel that I started this blog, searching for the gumption to write one.
Four years later, the novel is a reality! I just finished Draft 3 of book 1 and doing some final edits before I launch the beta version.
I am ready to relinquish control because this work is definitely bigger than me, so I need your help to do it justice!
If you missed the announcement, and are interested in being an early reader and help me make the adjustments I need before publishing…
Please reply to this email and let me know if you have time this for summer read!

Gumpcast Ep 17 : Mending your heart with the power of Somatics with Staci Haines.
Staci is the author of Politics of Trauma, and in this episode we will talk about her decades of work in Somatics, how that helped her process her mother’s death, and she offers me a session to mend my heart as well. Powerful stuff. Don’t miss it.

How is creativity related to our health? An Essay
As I release my novel to B-readers I will reflect on the journey so far, and the ideas that occurred to me about creativity and our health. The big idea I have is that creativity is our inner demons transformed into art.
The more you release them, the healthier you are, and the art then goes beyond you to inspire those who need it to battle their own inner demons.
More to come!
🙏 My Sunday Gratitude 🙏
My best friend Stacie Blanke for getting me a last minute ticket to go watch one of my favorite bands: Tinariwen.
If you do not know these beautiful Touareg people of Mali and their story then I leave you with this:
May you stay highly spirited this week,
Omar
