The only problem with searching for gumption is that it is easily confused with unhealthy ambition. It is a balancing act that keeps evading me.
Today I am celebrating the end of a very solid year of searching for gumption.
Since Feb of 2023 I…
wrote the fourth draft of my Novel,
went to my first writer’s conference,
relaunched my health program and onboarded the first client,
produced Season 2 of The Gumpcast,
co-created three live Season 3 shows with Volkan Eren
hosted a symposium about our humanity
Did -and learned a shit ton about- mediation
There is a sublime thrill about all of this. There is also a clear exhaustion and need to replenish my spirit.
I’ll be taking a break for the next few months, to travel, reflect, and just be.
In the meantime join us on WhatsApp for some fun and surprises.
Also if you are in SF, definitely catch one of our remaining 8 tickets for our last live Gumpcast show before the break.
It is on March 24th, at 7 pm 2024 at 1850 Union Street, San Francisco. There will be music, qi gong, and tea. Come!
I will be back in May to announce Season 3 and the new programming for next year!
Listen to Season 2 on Spotify or Apple Podcasts and let me know what you think.
“In many ways I think we've lost the sight of the purpose of free time. We seem to immediately equate idleness with laziness but those two things are very different. "Leisure" is not a synonym for "inactive" - idleness offers an opportunity for Play, something people rarely indulge in these days.”
― Celeste Headlee, Do Nothing: How to Break Away from Overworking, Overdoing, and Underliving
It has been four months since I renounced paying rent and relied on dog sitting free 10-day meditation courses, and friends like Morgan the incredible Mural Artist, Nick Adkins who spreads kindness and pink socks around the world, Omar Dajani from Episode 12, and A and for all, and many others have opened their homes to me.
Also a special thanks to all of you who have become paid members of this blog. I am so grateful for your support. I have a lot of great things cooking for our return.
Most importantly thank you for being here, and thanks to all of you who sent me emails and shared their own stories.
I appreciate you.
Without you, I would not still be on the dancefloor of this creative game.
See you in a couple of months!
Omar
